Banana stems make for a whimsical addition to your leaf litter base. They have a very unique appeal to them while providing all the same benefits of your more common botanicals.  They have many agricultural uses are grown organically and sun dried.  They take a little while to sink but a quick boil can aid in the process.  Once sunk they bloat slightly and provide great biofilm for fry and shrimp to graze on.
